Functional Medicine
In Lehi, Utah

At Koru Wellness, our functional medicine services combine comprehensive testing with modern medical expertise to look beyond symptoms and identify the underlying patterns that influence how you feel each day.

Instead of asking, “How do we manage this symptom?” we ask, “Why is this happening in the first place?”

By understanding how your body’s systems work together — hormones, metabolism, immune function, inflammation, sleep, and stress response — we create targeted plans that support recovery, balance, and long-term performance.

Your body already carries valuable information. Functional medicine helps us listen closely and respond with precision.

What Is Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine is a systems-based approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying root causes rather than treating isolated symptoms.

Through detailed history, advanced lab testing, and personalized care plans, we evaluate how different systems interact and where imbalances may be contributing to fatigue, mood changes, weight challenges, or ongoing health concerns.

This approach recognizes that:

  • Symptoms often have multiple contributors

  • Standard lab ranges don’t always reflect optimal function

  • Lifestyle, stress, and environment matter

  • Sustainable results come from supporting the whole body

Care is proactive, individualized, and designed to help you feel better long term.

Why Patients Seek Functional Medicine

Many people come to functional medicine after feeling frustrated with quick fixes or incomplete answers.

Common concerns we help address include:

  • Persistent fatigue or low energy

  • Hormonal imbalance

  • Weight loss resistance

  • Brain fog or poor focus

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Chronic stress and burnout

  • Digestive concerns

  • Inflammation or immune challenges

  • Mood changes tied to physical health

When something feels off but basic labs look “normal,” functional medicine provides a deeper investigation into how your body is truly functioning.

Normal Lab Results Don’t Always Mean Optimal

Being told your labs are “within range” while you still feel unwell can feel discouraging.

Reference ranges are designed to identify disease, not necessarily optimal performance. Functional medicine looks beyond minimum thresholds and evaluates patterns, interactions, and stress load across systems.

This deeper analysis helps explain symptoms that might otherwise be overlooked and guides more precise, personalized treatment strategies.

Our Approach: Test, Don’t Guess

Care at Koru Wellness starts with data.

Every patient begins with a comprehensive consultation and, when appropriate, targeted lab testing to assess metabolic health, hormones, nutrient status, inflammation, and other key markers.

From there, we develop a customized plan that may include:

• Advanced lab testing and biomarker analysis
• Nutrition and lifestyle adjustments
• Targeted supplementation
• Peptide or nutrient therapy
• Metabolic and hormone support
• Stress and nervous system regulation strategies
• Ongoing follow-up and progress tracking

There are no one-size-fits-all protocols. Your plan is built specifically for you.

Designed To Support Healing & Resilience

Your body is constantly working to maintain balance and recover from stress. When systems become overloaded or depleted, symptoms begin to appear.

Functional medicine focuses on supporting the body’s natural repair and regulation processes rather than forcing change from the outside. By strengthening foundations such as sleep, metabolism, nutrient status, and stress tolerance, many patients notice steady, sustainable improvements in both physical and mental well-being.

The goal is not short-term relief. The goal is stability and resilience.

Functional Medicine & Mental Health

Physical health and mental health are closely connected.

Hormonal imbalance, inflammation, blood sugar instability, and nutrient deficiencies can all influence mood, focus, and emotional regulation. Addressing these underlying contributors often enhances outcomes for therapy and other mental health treatments.

At Koru Wellness, functional medicine can be coordinated with:

• Talk therapy and counseling
• Ketamine-assisted therapy
• Vitamin, mineral, and peptide treatments
• Medical weight loss programs & GLPs

This integrated model helps ensure every part of your health is working together.

What To Expect

Your care begins with a thorough intake to understand your history, symptoms, and goals. Lab testing may be recommended to gather objective insights. Once results are reviewed, we create a step-by-step plan with clear priorities and follow-up appointments to track progress and make adjustments.

This structured process helps you feel informed, supported, and confident throughout treatment.
