The GeneSight® test process
Results
Results are typically returned to us within three days of the lab receiving your sample, so there is very little waiting.
Lab Analysis
Your sample is sent to the GeneSight lab, where your DNA is analyzed against over 60 commonly prescribed mental health medications.
Consultation
We sit down with you to understand your history, your goals, and whether genomic testing is the right fit for where you are in your care.
Collection
We collect a quick, painless cheek swab right here in our office — no blood draw, no discomfort, done in seconds.
Treatment Planning
We review your results with you in plain language and use them to build a medication plan that is informed by your unique biology, not guesswork.
Understanding The Cost
For most patients, cost is not a barrier.
Patients on Medicare, Medicare Advantage, or Medicaid typically pay $0 out of pocket. For patients with other insurance, 98% pay $330 or less — and many pay significantly less depending on their plan. For anyone without insurance, a flat self-pay rate of $330 is available to all patients.
GeneSight also makes a straightforward promise: if your estimated cost exceeds $330, they will contact you before processing the test. No surprises on your bill.
If cost is a concern, there are two additional options available. Financial assistance is available for eligible patients who qualify for reduced or no-cost testing. And for any balance of $100 or more, GeneSight offers an interest-free payment plan spread over up to 12 months.
Insurance
We accept UMR, United Healthcare, Optum, BCBS, SelectHealth, Regence, Medicare, and Medicaid. If your plan is not listed, we can still check your coverage during your consultation.

If you have been wondering whether genomic testing is the right next step for you, we would love to help you figure that out. Getting started is simple — reach out and one of our team members will follow up to answer your questions, walk you through the process, and get you scheduled.
The GeneSight test must be ordered by one of our licensed providers, which means your first step is a consultation with our team. We will take care of the rest.
